According to some sources, the White House has carried out the sale of 3 sophisticated weapons to Taiwan and has submitted a notification of the agreement to Congress for approval. China is rumored to be outraged by the action.
It is common knowledge that China claims that Taiwan is part of its territory and wants to re-place the small islands under its rule.
Earlier, a report revealed that as many as seven major weapons systems had gone through the export process in the US as the Trump administration increased pressure on China last month.
Recently, the leaders of the Senate Foreign Relations committee and the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee were told that 3 of the planned arms sales had been approved by the U.S. Department of State overseeing the sale of foreign troops,
Meanwhile, the 3 weapons include a truck-based rocket launcher created by Lockheed Martin Corp. known as the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), a long-range ground-to-air missile produced by Boeing Co, SLAM-ER, and an external sensor pod for F-16 jet that allows the transmission of the latest images and data from the aircraft back to the ground station.
In addition, there is also the sale of other weapons such as advanced air drones, anti-ship Harpoon missiles and underwater mines.
However, the US has not issued any feedback on the issue.
According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, the sale of U.S. weapons to Taiwan has damaged China's sovereignty and security interests, urging Washington to be aware of the dangers and to immediately cancel.
