Beijing has condemned India's action today to ban another Chinese application because of national security risks. It is common knowledge that tensions between Beijing and New Delhi have escalated since the June war in disputed border areas and the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers.
Yesterday, India banned a total of 43 applications including some from e-commerce giant Alibaba for allegedly threatening the country's sovereignty and integrity.
As such, China has revealed that they take the action seriously, in fact it violates market principles and WTO guidelines, and is detrimental to the rights and legal interests of Chinese companies.
Therefore, India is urged to withdraw the decision to avoid further damage to the bilateral cooperation that has been established.
Previously, New Delhi has also blocked a total of 59 Chinese applications including the highly popular TikTok video sharing platform from its vast domestic market, with 118 other Chinese mobile applications banned in September.
In addition, the latest applications that receive the same fate include AliExpress Alibaba and Lalamove delivery service, as well as dating and live streaming services.
Meanwhile, Alibaba's investment in the Indian online market is allegedly growing rapidly including Paytm's digital payment platform and online retail BigBasket.
However, anti-China sentiment has been rampant in India since the fighting and has sparked calls to boycott goods from neighboring countries.
