The European Commission declined to comment on the price leak to be paid for the dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, which emphasized privacy issues with the companies involved.
Following that, an EU executive spokesman was interrogated on information revealed yesterday through a post on twitter by a young Belgian government minister who gave an explanation on the cost of spending 5 vaccines in the Commission's portfolio.
However, the post was deleted a few minutes later, but it was posted on social media.
According to the commission, information on vaccine prices is an issue that must be kept confidential.
Based on the post, the price of each dose of vaccine starts from € 1.78 for a potential vaccine by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca, up to € 14.70 for the most expensive injection, from the US firm, Moderna.
While the price for Pfizer and BioNTech vaccines is the only one that has been approved so far and is used in the UK, US and maybe next week the EU will cost € 12 for each dose. However, Pfizer is rumored to be reluctant to submit any response on the issue.
Meanwhile, the European Commission has announced a seventh contract with US biotechnology company Novavax with 100 million doses of the vaccine and the price has not been disclosed based on the agreement with the company.
