The number of Americans who filed early claims for unemployment benefits last week reportedly recorded the lowest level since the pandemic crisis due to continued hiring despite slow rates.
The total number of claims made for unemployment benefits recorded 712,000 units last week compared to the estimates of economists who expect the total unemployment claims to drop to 780,000. The previous week's figure was revalued to 787,000 based on the U.S. Labor Report.
Overall, the total unemployment claims have shown a downward trend from the highest reading of 6.9 million at the end of March.
This report is released ahead of the NFP report for November. The market expects wage growth of 440,000 and the unemployment rate to drop to 6.7%.
The US dollar index, which measures the greenback against other currencies, fell 0.44% to the 90.713 exchange rate as of 9.55 p.m.
