According to the president and chief executive officer of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) group, Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz, natural gas is expected to contribute almost RM400 billion to public finance in the next decade and contribute significantly to the gas-producing country. He added that the natural gas industry is an important and direct contributor to the growth of the Malaysian economy with the widespread impact of the local economy.
In addition, about 15,000 job opportunities have been successfully created by industries throughout Sarawak and Terengganu. In fact, it is not only focused on the oil and gas industry but also research.
As such, Petronas is rumored to have invested more than RM18 billion in the development of the required gas infrastructure, to support the growth of the industry.
In addition, more than 11,000 cargoes have been successfully shipped safely to Petronas' core market from its global facility portfolio in Malaysia, Australia, Egypt, and future in Canada.
In addition, the new global energy landscape is claimed to require greater collaboration between producers, consumers and governments to ensure the ecosystem so that the gas that is the fuel of choice can benefit all stakeholders successfully produced.
As the national oil company of Malaysia, Petronas will continue to work closely with legislators and authorities in formulating the National Energy and Natural Gas Policy Roadmap that will ensure coordination of policy objectives to overcome the energy trilemma and increase the importance of cleaner energy use in this country.
