The euro rose to its latest high since April 2018 in today's Asian session even after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell postponed a vote on measures to increase Covid-19 payments.
Senate leader McConnell objected to a vote to increase the Covid-19 aid payment from $ 600 to $ 2,000 and suggested that the Senate evaluate the proposal first.
The dollar index, which measures the strength of the greenback dollar against most major currencies, fell near its 2-year low of 89.76.
The US dollar has recorded a steady decline since President Donald Trump signed the coronavirus aid and spending bill on Sunday and continued to weaken after the U.S. House of Representatives approved an increase in check payments on Tuesday.
Most recently, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced that $ 600 in aid would begin to be distributed to millions of Americans as soon as Tuesday night (US time).
This has pushed the US dollar down lower and pushed the euro to jump to its latest high.
