Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reportedly plans to dissolve his cabinet on Tuesday and nominate a new minister for foreign affairs, transportation and innovation.
Citing a Reuters report, three sources who knew the matter directly said Trudeau would make a reshuffle on Tuesday morning (Canadian time).
The move comes after the long-serving Minister of Innovation, Navdeep Bains, decided to quit politics after the next election.
This may be one of the initial steps taken by Trudeau to maintain his government and prepare his line of ministers to face the next election.
Last week, Trudeau said there may be an election this year but stressed that he wants to remain in office to focus on fighting the Covid-19 epidemic.
If this happens, this situation could pose a risk for Canadian dollar trading.
Ahead of the European session, the loonie dollar traded flat against the USD with support factors from high crude oil prices still helping the currency to withstand a further fall due to the strengthening of the US dollar.
