US President Joe Biden has signed a number of executive orders to step up efforts to combat the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
According to the BBC, vaccination programs will be expedited and vaccine testing will be intensified.
In addition, emergency laws will also be implemented to increase the production of essential items such as face masks.
Announcing the 10 executive orders, Biden said efforts to prevent the pandemic would take months but the US would go through this difficult phase if the people united.
Biden added that the approach taken by him 'will not be easy to enjoy'.
"Let me explain, the situation will continue to get worse before it gets better," Biden said, adding that he expects the death toll from Covid-19 to reach half a million victims next month.
Biden also promised not to interfere in the affairs of the team of scientists in matters related to vaccination.
He had previously criticized the vaccination program implemented by the administration of former President Donald Trump and described it as a failure.
Earlier, Biden targeted 100 million vaccine injections in his first 100 days as President and stated that this was the biggest operational challenge the US was going through.
Although the executive order does not require Congress approval, most of the funds to be used are contained in the US $ 1.9 trillion stimulus package announced by Biden last week.
He needs the cooperation of the Senate and the House of Representatives to ensure the package is implemented smoothly.
