Malaysia Emergency Until 1 August

 Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah consented to the Proclamation of Emergency Proclamation being implemented until August 1 as a proactive measure to curb the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country.


Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin in a statement Istana Negara informed that His Majesty consented to the emergency implementation period or until an earlier date if the daily COVID-19 positive case figures can be controlled and lowered effectively.


According to Bernama, Al-Sultan Abdullah also agreed with the government's proposal for the formation of an Independent Committee which will be composed of government and opposition MPs as well as health and related experts.


"This Independent Committee will recommend to His Majesty the King if the implementation of this emergency can be terminated earlier," he said.



Ahmad Fadil said, it has taken into account the consent of His Majesty the negotiations with the Malay Rulers.


According to him, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin presented the decision of the Cabinet Meeting on the proposed implementation of the Declaration of Emergency Proclamation when facing Al-Sultan Abdullah at Istana Negara at 5.30 pm yesterday to curb and overwhelm the positive Covid-19 daily case which now reaches four figures .


He added that His Majesty refined the Prime Minister's explanation and gave a briefing from Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, Attorney General Tan Sri Idrus Harun, Chief of Army Staff Tan Sri Affendi Buang, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, Director General of Health Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and Election Commission Chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh.


"Therefore, Al-Sultan Abdullah is of the view that the transmission of the Covid-19 epidemic in this country is at a very critical level and there is a need to declare a Proclamation of Emergency based on Clause (1) Article 150 of the Federal Constitution," he explained.


Ahmad Fadil said, the consent of Al-Sultan Abdullah also took into account the safety of the people and the interests of the country based on the current statistics of Covid-19, especially the constraints of logistics facilities according to the states presented during the briefing session.
