Have you ever imagined the price of a shoe equals the price of a luxury house?
In May last year, Nike Air Jordan 1 Chicago shoes worn by world basketball legend Michael Jordan were sold for US $ 560,000 (RM2.34 million) through an auction event by bidding company Sotheby.
The shoes were produced exclusively for Jordan during his first season in the NBA in 1985 and signed by him himself.
The sales value surpassed the record of 1972 Nike sneakers, the ‘Moon Shoe’ which sold for US $ 437,500 (RM1.8 million).
The auction price is also the most expensive value for the auction session for a basketball shoe.
Interestingly, the shoes involved have different sizes, the left side is size 13 and the right side is size 13.5.
The shoes are also iconic not only for basketball fans but also for collectors of luxury and original items.
However, in August last year, the Air Jordan 1 High shoes also worn by Jordan broke the record of Air Jordan 1 Chicago sales when it was successfully sold for US $ 615,000 (RM2.5 million).
Among the factors that make the two more valuable is due to the documentary screening ‘The Last Dance’ which features Jordan’s last season trip with the Chicago Bulls.
