Crude oil prices hovered above $ 60 a barrel after being affected by the rising US dollar, prompting black commodity trading to decline at the start of the Asian session.

The stronger US dollar makes US crude oil prices more expensive for buyers of other currencies.

However, due to the declining US crude oil supply outlook following the closure of oil mills due to extreme cold weather in Texas, oil prices remained above $ 60 a barrel.

At the time of writing, the Brent crude futures benchmark traded up $ 63.42 a barrel.

While WTI crude oil sales in the United States strengthened at $ 60.03 a barrel, slightly lowering from the 13-month high it reached earlier in the week, at $ 60.95 a barrel.

According to estimates from analysts, this bad weather has affected the total production of US shale oil of at least 2 million to 3.5 million barrels a day, and it is estimated that about 1/5 of the country's refining capacity has been affected.

Meanwhile, crude oil production in the Permian Basin, Texas is expected to experience a reduction of around 500,000 to 1.2 million barrels a day.
