Bursa Malaysia ‘Rebound’

 Bursa Malaysia started trading higher today, driven by continued buying momentum in lower-priced stocks.


At 9.13am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) index gained 2.07 points to 1,604.47 after crossing the 1,600 level by hitting 1,602.40 at the end of yesterday's trading.


According to Bernama, the benchmark index rose 5.46 points to 1,607.86 at 9am.


On the broader market, losers outpaced gainers by 214 to 256 while 361 other counters were unchanged, 1,401 untraded and 22 others suspended.


Turnover stood at 736.31 million shares worth RM318.14 million.


Meanwhile, brokerage firm Rakuten Trade expects the key index to rise in trading today but in a small range of around 1,595 to 1,605.



“Globally, sentiment on Wall Street remained volatile as all three indices declined after recording gains in the previous session.


“Although the 10 -year US Treasury yield was lower, sales activity was significant after the Nasdaq declined 2% while the DJI Average declined three points. As a result, we expect the regional market to not change much as market volatility becomes more pronounced today, ”he said in a research note.


Heavyweights saw Maybank and PBBank rise one sen each to RM8.25 and RM4.19, PChem added five sen to RM8.12, Tenaga on the other hand declined two sen to RM10.80, IHH lost one sen to RM5.33 while CIMB dropped three sen to RM4.47.


Of the active stocks, BJCorp, which was also the most active this morning, gained 3.5 sen to 32.5 sen, DNex and its warrants rose 1.5 sen to 99.5 sen and 35.5 sen while YongTai rose and PDZ were flat at 27 sen and 5.5 sen respectively.


On the index board saw the FBM Emas Index rose 14.10 14.10 points to 11,767.89, FBMT 100 added 10.40 points to 11,439.85, and FBM Emas Syariah rose 10.20 points to 13,075.54.


FBM ACE gained 14.65 points to 10,453.52 but FBM 70 declined 2.85 points to 15,444.51.


By sector, the Financial Services Index rose 42.10 points to 15,308.87, the Industrial Products and Services Index rose 0.82 points to 191.94 while the Plantation Index added 18.51 points to 7,181.56.
