6 Important Economic Data News Market Focus This Week (April 12-16, 2021)

 Here are some of the important economic data that will be the focus of the market throughout the week.


UK Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Data (Tuesday 2.00pm): The UK monthly GDP report is expected to return an increase to 0.5% for February after a -2.9% contraction in the previous month.


US Inflation Data (Tuesday 8.30pm): The published US consumer price index report will also be the focus of the Federal Reserve (Fed). Expectations of data readings for March are slightly higher than the previous month, will provide a positive perspective on US consumer spending.



New Zealand Central Bank Policy Meeting (Wednesday 10.00pm): The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) is expected to continue to keep interest rates unchanged for the latest policy meeting at 0.25%. A follow -up statement by the central bank will give investors an indication of future policy projections.


Australian Jobs Data Report (Thursday 9.30am): Expected to put pressure on Aussie dollar trading this week is a forecast of a decline in Australia’s job growth figures for March. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate is expected to decline to 5.7% from 5.8% previously.


US Retail Sales Data (Thursday 8.30pm): Markets expect a surge in retail sales rates in the United States in March after declining readings in February. A positive reading of the data will give an indication of the recovery of the US economy.


China's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Data (Friday 10.00 AM): The published GDP data readings are representative of the first quarter of this year with the same quarter last year. The market is expecting a better reading figure difference by China than last year.
