The Bitcoin network will be updated with the introduction of the Taproot softfork, if miners agree to continue the improvements.
After years of waiting, Taproot is finally ready to be launched in order to offer multi-signature transactions, which are cheaper and closed and easy to do.
In short, Bitcoin is advancing into a more personalized and scalable phase.
However, the results of the application of Taproot depend on the miner. Thus, miners who want the objective to be pursued, they can give a special signal in the block they are mining, known as ‘signal bits’.
If 90% of the blocks are mined during the difficulty phase including bit signals, chances are the update will be set in November this year.
For now, only 10.36% of the blocks mined agree with Taproot, making the remaining blocks of 1792 to determine what will happen. If the majority refuses, then the adjustment will take place at another time.
Bitcoin Core and Suredbits developer Ben Carman is confident of positive results, at least in the second difficult time.
