The influential and administrative Conservative Party in Britain had to face great disappointment when the results of the by -elections showed that their party had failed to retain seats. This indirectly, the conservative party was forced to relinquish the seat it held for almost 50 years.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson's party lost in a contest to elect MPs for Chesham and Amersham - prosperous commuter cities in Buckinghamshire, northwest London.

The centralized Liberal Democrat candidate, Sarah Green, won more than 56 percent in a constituency held by the Tories since it was established.

The Times reported that the defeat had raised criticism and skepticism of the strategy used by the Conservative Party. The party showed that they were more focused on grabbing seats from the opposition than defending seats.

Last May, Johnson’s party won a by -election in Hartlepool. This has indirectly added another parliamentary seat in north -east England than they won in the last election in December 2019, when Brexit was a major issue.

This decision has come as a shock to many as many did not think that the so -called ‘blue wall’ of the conservative party had been successfully broken.

The by -election had to be held after former administration minister Cheryl Gillan who had held the seat for 29 years died.

The GBP continued to depreciate deeper against the US dollar after the news was released trading lower by 0.42% at the price level of 1.3861.
