Germany will for the first time allow some investment institutions to invest in crypto assets.

The law that took effect on Monday will allow Spezialfonds to invest up to 20% into Bitcoin (BTC) and other crypto assets based on fixed investment rules.

Spezialfonds refers to the vehicle of choice of German institutions for most classes of liquid assets and for properties in different structures. It is said the fund currently manages around $ 2.1 trillion.

However, according to BVI cryptocurrency expert Tim Kreutzmann, most investments will initially remain below the 20%level:

“On the one hand, institutional investors such as insurance companies, they are faced with strict regulatory requirements for their investment strategies. On the other hand, they also want to invest in crypto. ”

As financial services advisor at Oliver Wyman LLC, Kamil Kaczmarski predicted, the institution will start cryptocurrency investments at the lowest level as most of them don’t want any change in at least 5 years.

Deutsche Bank AG’s asset manager, DWS Group is currently monitoring developments and at the same time has no plans to offer funds that buy crypto.

Meanwhile, DekaBank is considering investing in digital currency. However, they have not yet made any decision.
