US Moves Wrong Direction In Covid War - Dr. Fauci

U.S. President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Sunday that the United States is now heading in the wrong direction in fighting the new wave of Covid-19.

"If you look at the new infection case curve, it can be seen that among the increase recorded is from people who have not been vaccinated. With 50% of the country's population still not fully vaccinated, this is a problem for the US ", said Dr. Fauci.

Based on data modeling, the country faces the worst daily death scenario reaching a winter peak of 4,000 people.

"I'm not sure if this is going to be the worst case scenario, but it's not going to be good," he told CNN State of the Union. We are heading in the wrong direction. It's like we have two types of America. ”, He added.

According to Dr. Fauci, the coronavirus situation in the U.S. is also seen to have become pandemic among non-vaccinated people, and the Delta Covid-19 virus variant is among the main causes driving the surge in areas with low vaccination rates.

Therefore, Dr. Fauci reminded residents in the affected areas to get vaccinated to prevent further spread.

Following that as well, he said health officials are now considering reviewing guidelines for wearing face masks for fully vaccinated Americans to curb transmission.
