Bursa Malaysia fell in early this week

 At 9.05am The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI benchmark (FBM KLCI) dropped 2.24 points at 1,523.30 from Friday's closure at 1,525.54.


It opened lower as the main index fell 0.15% brought down by selected heavyweights.


The index opens 1.22 points at 1,526.76.


In the widespread market, investors saw losers outnumber gainers with 214 compared to 165, while 261 counters were unchanged, 1,682 were untraded and 19 suspended.


Total turnover at 140.14 million units worth RM840.21 million.



Notes issued by Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd expressed interest in buying interests likely to be connected to the local bourse after the Malacca state election ended on Saturday but the increase may be limited to a deceased concern over the revival of the COVID-19 cases in European countries that have the potential to inhibit the economic recovery.


He added that investors are less concerned with oil and gas stocks following the fall in crude oil prices while they may focus on plantation stocks that still provide positive income momentum amid strong CPO prices.


The heavyweights witnessed Public Bank Bhd added 1 sen at RM4.08, Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) remained at RM8.08 and RM9.55 while Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (Petchem). Sen at RM8.29, IHH Healthcare Bhd Turn 3 sen at RM6.51 and Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB) fell 18 sen at RM18.14.


Active shares saw PDZ Holdings Bhd and Engineering Asastera Bhd increased by 0.5 sen at 6.5 sen and 35 sen while Tancco Holdings Bhd remained at 27 sen, Advance Synergy Bhd shrank 1.5 sen at 11 sen, Scope Industrial Bhd dropped 2.5 sen at 37.5 sen and AirAsia Group Bhd mentioned 4 sen at RM1.01.


On the index board, the Gold FBM Index fell 9.77 points to 11,235.87, the FBMT Index 100 dropped 10.25 points to 10,885.33, Shariah Gold FBM Index fell 9.36 points at 12,218.39 and FBM ACE less 22.64 points at 6,792.42 while FBM 70 rose 8.42 points at 14,791.98.


Industrial Products and Services Index increased 0.25 points at 200.04, the Plantation Index dismissed 6.88 points at 6,598.22 and the Financial Services Index decreased 22.60 points at 15,202.98.
