No OT, don't want to work. Strange isn't it?

ATA IMS Bhd said nearly 300 of its employees resigned in the first week of December after the company implemented a ‘no overtime on Sundays’ policy.

According to a source from the electrical manufacturing service provider company, the policy was implemented after some of its chairmen had allowed employees to work beyond the stipulated working hours.

ATA IMS stated that they comply with and adhere to the Malaysian labor law policy which only allows 104 hours per day of working time in a month.

The company added it is no problem if its employees want overtime on a voluntary basis and the company will pay 2 times as much for those who work on Sundays and 3 times as much on public holidays.

However, there is 1 month which has 4 Sundays and public holidays for which the chairman has allowed his employees to work beyond the permitted hours.

Meanwhile, ATA IMS stated that all its employees have valid work permits despite facing work permit problems during the Movement Control Order due to its limited operating capacity in government offices.

He added that they have employed a total of 222 supervisors in the entire business unit who diligently perform their duties to ensure the smooth running of their division and the well-being of the employees under their supervision.

The ATA IMS also states that there are external information channels available in various languages operated by independent third parties and supported by the Malaysian government and the company’s human resources department.

The company clarified that any report through this channel will be sent directly to its client’s legal team and the Malaysian authorities but ‘this complaint has not been raised previously through any of these channels’.

As of today, ATA IMS shares traded up 35 sen or 7.95% with a market capitalization of RM577.33 million.
