As concerns over the new variant of Omicron have eased, in silence the virus has spread widely in the UK, with hundreds of cases of infection detected in the country.
On Tuesday, Britain reported 101 new cases involving the Omicron variant, bringing the latest number to 437 cases.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that preliminary indications suggested that the new variant is more likely to spread than Delta, and Downing Street said it was still unclear the effect of the vaccine on it.
UK Health Minister Sajid Javid also confirmed Omicron is spreading in communities in several areas of England.
Following that, England had to introduce a new measure, under which all travelers to the country would have to show negative test evidence from Covid-19 before embarking on a journey.
Travelers with a history of contact with Omicron cases should be isolated for 10 days, including those who have been fully vaccinated.
Earlier in a separate report, top U.S. health official Anthony Fauci said that the Omicron coronavirus variant was not as severe as Delta. This makes the market a little relieved.
However, the pound failed to appreciate due to the growing Omicron case in Britain.
