At 9.27am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 0.53 points at 1,494.43 from Monday's close of 1,493.90.
The index opened 1.10 points at 1,492.80.
It opened lower but rebounded slightly as a result of moderate buying activity on selected heavyweights.
On the broader market, investors saw losers outnumber gainers by 217 to 155, while 267 counters were unchanged, 1,661 untraded and 51 suspended.
Total turnover at 339.32 million units worth RM221.6 million.
A note issued by Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said they expect moderate safe-buying activity against the local market until the end of the year with support levels at 1,475 and resistance added at 1,505-1,535.
In addition, they also expect hunting activity on heavyweights by the end of the year.
Heavyweights saw Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) add 3 sen to RM8.14, Public Bank Bhd rose 1 sen to RM4.08 and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd remained at RM5.29.
Meanwhile, IHH Healthcare Bhd and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) declined 1 sen to RM6.52 and RM9.29 respectively.
Active stocks saw Swift Haulage Bhd and Bintai Kinden Corp Bhd remain at RM1.03 and 24.5 sen respectively while Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd declined 1 sen at 25 sen and Malaysian Genomics Resource Center Bhd lost 0.5 sen at 92.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas index rose 4.18 points at 10,844.21, the FBMT 100 index added 3.83 points at 10,551.18 and the FBM Emas Shariah index fell 4.74 points at 11,634.39.
FBM 70 was up 5.47 points at 13,827.93 and FBM ACE was down 16.36 points at 6,190.54.
The Products and Services Industry Index decreased 0.21 points at 194.32, the Financial Services index reached 29.96 points at 15,274 and the Plantation index drove 10.55 points at 6,362.85.
