Ethereum 2.0 may not be ready to go live yet, but the first testnet is ready to be experimented with by its users.

In a recent tweet by Ethereum’s lead developer, Tim Beiko, Kintsugi’s testnet is now live and users have a chance to see how ETH 2.0 works in the future.

Over the past few months, client teams have been working tirelessly to implement a new set of merge milestones. They are now live on a new testnet: Kintsugi 🍵!

‘Kintsugi’ is taken from a Japanese word, referring to the use of gold to repair damaged goods without wanting to cover up the damage.

But, Ethereum is not broken.

On the other hand, the issue of transaction costs that are too high when the spike in activity on the network is seen as a ‘flaw’ that scares its users until they have to look for other alternatives.

And ETH 2.0 as its solution through Ethereum’s transition from Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus to Proof-of-Stake (PoS).

For the record, the network transition has already started with phase 0 in December 2020 through the launch of Beacon Chain.

If the Kintsugi testnet can be implemented successfully, Ethereum is ready for Ethereum 2.0.
