Leaders around the world seem to be wondering whether their health systems are able to control the spread of the growing Omicron variant and act accordingly.
However, not for the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, who continues to believe not to carry out the initial lockdown despite the high number of Covid-19 cases in the country.
In fact, PM Johnson relaxed travel restrictions in England again, canceling the need for travelers to undergo pre-release tests and quarantine upon arrival so that they test negative.
The move was made to discourage people from traveling for fear of being trapped outside the country and accommodating large costs.
After the daily number of cases slipped past the 200,000 mark in recent days, PM Johnson said travel restrictions that were tightened last month were now seen as ineffective.
At the same time, he also announced that testing regulations for residents in England without symptoms would be eased.
Meanwhile, asymptomatic people who test positive will no longer need the PCR validation test starting January 11. On the other hand, those who accept a positive decision on the device will be required to self-isolate immediately.
A similar system will be rolled out in Scotland and Wales from Thursday.
