One of the world's largest sporting programmes, the Australian Open (AO) will host this year's tennis championship in the metaverse world, Decentraland.
It is expected that more than one billion tennis fans will watch this championship.
However, they need to make purchases of non-fungible tokens (NFT) that have been linked to the live match.
Not enough with that, they have a chance to get one of the 6,776 AO Art Balls produced by the collaboration of local and domestic artists for them to form NFT the combined history of tennis and AO.
The advantages of AO Art Ball
Each ArtBall metadata is linked to a 19cmx19cm tennis court plot.
If any winning stroke than one of the more than 400 matches lands in the space, the metadata will be updated live to include the highlights and match stats.
ArtBall owners have the opportunity to get prizes such as wearables, merchandise, NFT enhancements, and get involved in airdrops.
One of the 11 points of the championship lands on the same plot, the owner also has the opportunity to win the tennis ball used in the match together with proof of the authenticity of the product.
ArtBall goes on sale on January 10 and the AO tennis tournament at Decentraland goes live on January 17, simultaneously with the reality match.
Actually, this idea is rather interesting as an alternative when the Omicron virus is getting more and more worldwide.
Domestic and international fans can see for themselves the 3D virtual reality platform to see the main stadium, Rod Laver Arena.
