‘It’s easier to fly after this, there aren’t many procedures, but the SOP still works.’

AirAsia announced that starting April 1, they will limit the convenience of counter check -in services at all Malaysian airports in an effort to speed up the transition to touch -free self -check -in.

The low -budget airline said that from April 1, there would be no counter check -in charges for passengers who were 'eligible' to receive their own check -in service.

Eligibility requirements for recipients of self -check -in services are;

Bookings made under warrants of the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Government.

Rental flight passengers.

Passengers who have checked in themselves but need to reprint the pass.

Passengers holding a People with Disabilities (OKU) card.

Group bookings of more than 10 passengers.

Young passengers traveling alone (ages 12-16).

Passengers affected by schedule changes and flight cancellations.

Passengers wishing to upgrade their seats and/or purchase at the check -in counter.

Passengers affected by disruption of the Super App app system, website or kiosk.

Passengers who are not assigned a seat at self -check -in, corporate Full Flex and Premium Flex are eligible.

According to AirAsia, they have successfully transferred 95% of its passengers to its own touch -free check -in system through the Super App and its website.

It is an initiative made by AirAsia in facing life in the new norm with Covid-19.

General knowledge, AirAsia is facing a very difficult time due to the Covid-19 outbreak that hit the world over the past 2 years, causing the aviation sector to be severely affected.

However, it needs to continue operations and adapt by living within the new norms to ensure the interests of every passenger and its employees are secured.

Currently only fully vaccinated employees are allowed to return to work at the airport terminal and only passengers who have been fully vaccinated are allowed to board the plane.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Malaysia's Chief Operating Officer (CEO), Riad Asmat, said the improvements to the system made by the company were the result of the appropriate reception by their guests.

He added that the use of the touchless self -registration system that can be made in the application is much easier and more convenient for AirAsia guests.

As of this afternoon, shares of AirAsia or Capital A were trading red at 62 sen with a market value of RM2.6 billion.
