Bursa Opened As Green As Pandan Layer Cake In The Morning

 At 9.10am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 5.96 points at 1,528.72 from Friday's close of 1,522.76.


The index opened 2.47 points at 1,525.23.


It opened higher during Monday’s early morning trading session as a result of the impetus of several heavyweights in the healthcare sector during the season of daily Covid-19 case increases hit.


On the broader market, investors saw gainers outpacing losers by 255 to 121, while 237 counters were unchanged, 1,603 untraded and 22 suspended.


Total turnover at 211.82 million units worth RM120.25 million.



According to a note from Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd, the current situation which has seen an increase in Covid-19 infections has benefited the healthcare sector.


Heavyweights saw Top Glove Corp Bhd drive 11 sen at RM2.28, Hartalega Holdings Bhd rose 13 sen at RM5.73, Press Metal Aluminum Holdings Bhd added 18 sen at RM6.39 and Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) reached 4 sen at RM8.30.


Active stocks saw Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) rise 2 sen at RM1.03, AT Systematization Bhd added 0.5 sen at 3 sen and Alam Maritim Resources Bhd remained at 3.5 sen.


On the index board, FBM ACE advanced 42.82 points at 6,228.56, FBM 70 was strong 53.10 points at 13,532.35, FBM Emas added 44.30 points at 11,003.87, FBMT 100 gained 41.71 points at 10,684.64 and FBM Emas Shariah reached 68.40 points at 11,735.21.


The Financial Services Index hit 26.34 points at 15,812.03, the Products and Services Industry index hit 1.80 points at 205.10 and the Plantation index bloomed 0.89 points at 6,544.75.
