Russian media reported that the Ukrainian armed forces had fired artillery and grenade attacks in four areas of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) at 10.30am Malaysian time.
However, its authenticity is still unknown as the report was released by the Russian state media, Sputnik News.
For the record, the LPR is located in the Luhansk Oblast, Donbas which is an internationally recognized region as part of Ukraine but is operated by Russian -backed separatists.
The United States and its Western allies from NATO have previously warned that Russia would launch an attack on ‘sudden’ grounds.
In fact, Russia’s claim that its military forces have left the Ukrainian border in the past are also said to be ‘false’ and instead there has been an addition of about 7,000 troops in recent days, according to America.
This alleged attack by Ukraine could possibly be a cause for Russia to retaliate.
Following the report, financial markets continued to react with most major global currencies and stocks declining sharply while safe-haven assets soared.
