The increase in cases of Covid-19 infection due to Omicron’s highly susceptible spread does not seem to prevent these countries from announcing plans to reopen or reduce their border controls.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Covid-19 cases worldwide have reached their latest peak in late January, with over 4 million cases registered in a single day.

Even so, many countries are signaling that they are economically unable to do the shutdown again (lockdown).

Among the countries that have announced the reopening of the border is Australia by allowing the entry of vaccinated travelers starting 21 February.

New Zealand, meanwhile, has outlined a five -stage reopening plan, where international tourists will not be allowed in until as early as July.

But with a few exceptions, tourists are allowed to enter earlier than the set date.

In addition, the Philippines has also announced the reopening of its borders to aid economic recovery and it also wants to move in tandem with other Southeast Asian countries.

Apart from the three countries, Bali and Malaysia have also declared the reopening of the border although the latest cases of infection continue to show an increase every day.

Other countries that have long opened their borders have also further relaxed regulations, particularly Europe which is dropping entry testing requirements for vaccinated travelers.
