Sungkyunkwan University located in South Korea will launch an award certificate in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT) to be given to the winners of the university's special event during the graduation ceremony later.
It is understood that the university is more comfortable to sign the certificate because it can be used at any time without worrying if the original copy is lost or pirated.
Not only that, Sungkyunkwan University also wants to roll out other certificates into blockchain technology, thus being part of the transition of the digital era.
Interestingly, the local giant company - Samsung supported this effort through the renewal of cooperation from the 60's to 70's.
For the record, Samsung joined the university’s foundation organization and became a major sponsor in 1996.
In addition to Sungkyunkwan University, several other universities in the country-Soongsil and Chung-Ang University have reportedly partnered with local blockchain developers to jointly introduce metaverse and NFT technologies into their graduation programs.
