As it bounces on Wall Street, the Malaysia Stock Exchange remains brilliant

 At 9.05am the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI level marker (FBM KLCI) added 10.71 points at 1,608.81 from Wednesday's close of 1,598.10.


The index opened firm at 10.59 points at 1,608.69.


It opened high as positive bounces on Wall Street followed the Federal Reserve's decision to increase interest rates and the possibility that Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) would maintain current benefit rates through June.


In the broad market, traders saw profit counters overcome losses with 243 to 89, while 188 counters were also unchanged, 1,720 not traded and 10 hanged.


The total acquisition of 112.34 million units is worth RM84.44 million.


Nota Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said the major indexes may continue to gain after gains in crude oil prices after agreements to release crude oil profits failed to stem concerns over supply disruptions.



The boom in stocks related to energy, agriculture and iron will be on the rise in the Russia-Ukraine tensions tail.


The price of crude oil jumped US$112 or RM469.53 devil while crude palm oil was at the level of RM6,600 devil.


Fair stocks saw Maybank and IHH Healthcare Bhd up 4 points at RM8.98 and RM6.66 respectively, Public Bank Bhd adding 3 cents at RM4.44, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd advancing 16 cents at RM9.93 and Press Metal Aluminum Holdings Bhd hit 10 cents at RM7.17.


Active stocks saw NeXchange Trading Bhd (DNeX) advancing 3 cents at RM1.17, TAFI Industries Bhd up 2.5 cents at 79.5 cents and Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd adding 1 cent at RM1.23.


On the index board, FBM Gold reached 74.81 points at 11,447.28, Shariah Gold FBM spurred 78.13 points at 12,218.70, FBM 70 added 93.99 points at 13,559.13, FBMT 100 was strong at 74.71 points at 11,123.45 and FBM ACE opened 7.12 points at 5,761.01.


In terms of sectors, the Financial Services index jumped 110.42 points at 16,463.99, the Product and Service Industry index reached 2.25 points at 214.61 and the Agriculture Index rose 66.20 points at 8,676.24.
