Diplomatic tensions between Russia and the West are escalating after Moscow blocked Prime Minister Boris Johnson and several other top UK officials from entering the country in response to British sanctions.
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, it has accused the UK government of committing unprecedented hostile acts, referring to sanctions on senior Russian officials.
Britain’s actions aimed at evoking a negative attitude towards Russia, restricting bilateral relations in almost all areas will be detrimental to the well -being and interests of the UK population.
Any blockade attack will definitely get retribution for everything that happens, he added.
In addition to PM Johnson, other officials subject to sanctions are Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, former Prime Minister Theresa May and Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
Meanwhile, a British government spokesman issued a statement condemning the action.
It also said that the UK and other international allies were united in condemning Russia’s actions in Ukraine as well as calling on the Kremlin to stop the war.
Earlier, Russia had imposed sanctions on US President Joe Biden and several other officials in response to economic sanctions on it.
