Steady! Excellent Exchange At The End Of The Week

 At 9am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 5.59 points at 1,555.00 from Wednesday's close of 1,549.41.


The index opened strong 2.97 points at 1,552.38.


Bursa managed to turn back yesterday's losses when it opened higher at the end of the week following a recovery in market sentiment with good news from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.


On the broader market, investors saw gainers at 176 outnumbering losers at 105, while 190 counters were unchanged, 1,810 untraded and 22 suspended.


Total turnover at 110.88 million units worth RM53.40 billion.


A report by the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture showed as many as 500,000 international tourists had entered the country as of last week, since the reopening of the border on April 1, and projected a target of another 2 million tourists would arrive by the end of the year.



Meanwhile, a note from Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said investors remained cautious in the near term as current volatile market sentiment across Wall Street closed weak.


Heavyweights Malayan Banking Bhd and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd gained 1 sen at RM8.99 and RM5.05, Public Bank Bhd and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd advanced 4 sen at RM4.61 and RM10.06 while IHH Healthcare Bhd remained at RM6. 58.


Active stocks saw Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd, SMTrack Bhd and TWL Holdings Bhd remain at 14.5 sen, 8.5 sen and 7.5 sen while Techna-X Bhd rose 0.5 sen at 6 sen and ARB Bhd added 1 sen at 12.5 sen.


The biggest losers showed Petronas Gas Bhd fell 34 sen at RM17.02, Khind Holdings Bhd fell 20 sen at RM3.10, Sarawak Oil Palms Bhd declined 14 sen at RM5.58, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd declined 10 sen at RM26.80 and IOI Corporation Bhd lost 8 sen to RM4.31.


On the index board, FBM ACE declined 8.57 points at 5,279.6 while FBM Emas Shariah index rose 26.4 points at 11,497.12, FBM Emas index drove 38.26 points at 11,084.53, FBMT 100 index collected 38.09 points at 10,759.42 and FBM 70 strengthened 44.19 points at 13,140.06.


In terms of sector, the Products and Services Industry index jumped 1.04 points at 198.13, the Financial Services index advanced 77.62 points at 16,671.33 while the Plantation index declined 48.19 points at 8,189.14.
