At 9am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 9.01 points at 1,440.11 from Wednesday's close of 1,431.10.
The index opened 3.40 points strong at 1,434.50.
The bourse bounced from yesterday's low close to open higher above the 1,440 level as a result of buying interest on heavyweights in plantation stocks.
On the broader market, investors saw gainers at 137 outpacing losers at 96, while 184 counters were unchanged, 1,849 untraded and 9 suspended.
Total turnover at 144.93 million units worth RM60.99 million.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice president of equity research Thong Pak Leng said there was a modest rebound today as the index hovered at support levels.
He expects the KLCI to be at 1,425 to 1,445 today.
Heavyweights saw Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK) gain 42 sen at RM22.56, Sime Darby Plantation Bhd rose 9 sen at RM4.13, IOI Corp Bhd bloomed 8 sen at RM3.81 and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) added 3 sen at RM8.21 while Petronas Dagangan Bhd remained at RM20.50.
Active stocks saw newly -listed YX Precious Metals Bhd reach 2 sen at 30 sen, Dataprep Holdings Bhd rose 1 sen at 20 sen, China Ouhua Winery Holdings Ltd and Jade Marvel Group Bhd remained at 6.5 sen and 9.1 sen while NWP Holdings Bhd declined 1.5 sen. cents at 27 cents.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Shariah index strengthened 63.10 points at 10,407.09, FBM 70 rose 55.52 points at 12,415.03, the FBM Emas Index expanded 57.671 points at 10,268.9, FBM ACE added 0.38 points at 4,715.87 and the FBMT 100 index jumped 58.10.41 points at 10,0.41 points.
In terms of sector, the Financial Services index rose 88.29 points at 16,064.96, the Plantation index added 85.73 points at 6,875.36 and the Products and Services Industry index jumped 1.09 points at 184.15.
