Following the news of the resignation of Boris Johnson from the post of UK Prime Minister, the focus was on the development of the selection of candidates who will lead the new leadership.

Rishi Sunak, the former UK Finance Minister who resigned before the resignation of Boris Johnson is now the leading candidate to top the voting chart to win the post of party leader and Prime Minister.

Following the vote on the list of candidates were Commerce Minister Penny Mordaunt, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, MP Kemi Badenoch and Tom Tugendhat so far twice.

The development of the selection of leader candidates was seen to be tense, especially between Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss in a recent debate in a television broadcast attended by all five candidates.

Liz told that the tax hike introduced by Rishi Sunak would be a hindrance to economic growth.

He disputed that the tax increase, which reached a 70 -year high, would affect income to settle debts.

Also in an interview with The Independent media, he warned that Britain would face an economic downturn due to the Rishi tax hike.

Meanwhile, Rishi accused Liz of offering something that was not beneficial to the UK economy after she responded that the implementation of the tax increase was due to pandemic factors that affected the economy and costs had to be covered.

Penny Mordaunt, who is seen as a candidate to challenge Rishi, also disputed the action because the people are increasingly burdened with the high cost of living.

However, Rishi again slammed Penny by claiming that the loan plan to invest was seen as ‘dangerous’.

All five candidates are pushing for early elections if they want to be appointed Prime Minister within 7 weeks.

At one point, all candidates were asked to raise their hands if they wanted to offer for Boris Johnson to hold a position in the cabinet, but no one did so.
