New Buying Interest Sparks Positive Opening of Bursa Malaysia

 Bursa Malaysia started trading today on a positive note on the back of renewed buying interest after experiencing a sell-off in the last 2 days, in addition to tracking Wall Street's profit performance.


At 9am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 4.58 points at 1,495.15 from Wednesday's close of 1,490.57.


The index opened up 1.09 points at 1,491.66.


In the broader market, gainers at 197 outpaced losers at 80, while 164 counters were unchanged, 1,794 untraded and 9 suspended.


Total revenue at 154.83 million units worth RM54.89 million.


According to Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd, Wall Street experienced a rebound as a result of the services PMI data which rose unexpectedly while there were strong corporate data.



In addition, Nancy Pelosi who departed from Taiwan eased the sentiment of the geopolitical crisis that occurred yesterday.


The streak, firms expect the local technology sector may mirror the performance of Wall Street while the decision to lift Indonesia's job ban could benefit the plantation and construction sectors.


Heavyweight stocks saw Malayan Banking Bhd add 4 sen to RM8.87, Public Bank Bhd and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd up 1 sen to RM4.62 and RM5.24, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd up 8 sen to RM8.98 and IHH Healthcare Bhd a jump of 3 sen at RM6.45.


Active stocks saw CSH Alliance Bhd up 0.5 sen at 6.5 sen and SFP Tech Holdings Bhd up 2.5 sen at 89.5 sen while Green Packet Bhd fell 0.5 sen at 5.5 sen while ARB Bhd and Vinvest Capital Holdings Bhd remained at 11.5 sen and 18 sen.


On the index board, FBM Emas Shariah index rose 39.66 points to 10,752.71, FBM ACE jumped 18.41 points to 4,808.86, FBMT 100 index drove 32.89 points to 10,356.64, FBM Emas index gained 34.63 points to 10,606.85 and FBM 70 grew 44.95 points to 10,666.62.


In terms of sectors, the Financial Services index advanced 34.3 points at 16,604.45 and the Products and Services index jumped 0.83 points at 186.03 while the Energy index decreased 3.16 points at 657.58 and the Plantation index weakened 36.51 points at 6,991.5.
