Apple removed MT4 from the App Store, so traders had to switch to Android anyway

By now a large number of users of Apple's iOS ecosystem may already know that the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) trading platforms have been removed from the App Store.

This means that any new update or upgrade of MetaQuotes Sofware Corp products for iOS users will not receive any support.

This is believed to happen because there is a connection between MetaQuotes and Russia, where Western powers are actively imposing sanctions after Vladimir Putin's government invaded Ukraine last February.

The invasion has become a hot topic this year, and it has indirectly seen a number of companies around the world boycott and impose sanctions as a sign of protest or solidarity.

Generally, MetaQuotes is a Russian software company with an off-shore registration in Limassol, Cyprus.

Among the most popular products released by MetaQuotes is certainly the MT4 electronic trading platform which is very synonymous among forex traders.

Since its introduction in 2005, MT4 has become the main instrument in trading activities and was the most popular trading platform in the world before MT5 was introduced in 2009.

Returning to the original news, neither Apple nor MetaQuotes announced the release of the platform in the App Store.

However, what is known is that Apple is one of the biggest market players who actively boycotted and blocked Russia by turning off all payment functions including Apple Pay in Russia during March.

However, users of the Android ecosystem and computers need not worry because so far there are no signs that they want to block the platform.
