'People are busy with war near Europe, he is also busy trying to start a war near Asia.'

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) reported airstrikes near the border between the countries after the government led by Kim Jong Un fired a missile into the sea off its east coast.

It is understood that North Korea has continued to launch a series of short-range ballistic missiles towards the sea after first doing so last week.

Sources in the North Korean news agency KCNA explained that the launch was made as a 'defensive response' following South Korea's military exercises with the United States earlier last week.

In addition to launching missiles, North Korea is said to have also flown about 10 aircraft hovering over the inter-state military border (DMZ) and fired 170 artillery rounds on the coast.

As a result, the JCS itself has launched its own fighter jets in response to North Korea's actions.

At the same time, South Korea's National Security Council condemned North Korea's actions, saying Pyongyang violated the 2018 bilateral military pact that prohibits 'hostile actions' in the DMZ.

Based on that factor, Seoul imposed sanctions on Pyongyang by blacklisting 15 individuals and 16 North Korean institutions believed to be related to the development of the missile.

In the meantime, the Indo-Pacific military representative of the United States (US) as well as the representative of Japan reportedly condemned North Korea's actions.
