Uproar! Putin Wants to End the War With Ukraine

President Vladimir Putin said that Russia wants to end its war with Ukraine insisting that the fighting should end as soon as possible.

The statement was made after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky paid a visit to the White House on Thursday to meet US President Joe Biden.

During the meeting, Biden pledged continued and unwavering US support to Kyiv.

In the surprise statement, Putin said his goal was not to escalate the military conflict, but to end this war.

He added, his party will try to end it as soon as possible.

However, there has been no further confirmation from the Kremlin on this matter, including the possibility of negotiations ending in a ceasefire.

Meanwhile, White House spokesman John Kirby said Putin has not shown any willingness to negotiate.

However, Kirby stressed that President Joe Biden is always open to negotiations if the Russian leader shows seriousness to talk.

Moscow's attack on Ukraine since February has seen a series of sanctions imposed on the country, including most recently a cap on Russian oil prices.

Putin himself said he would sign a decree early next week as Russia's response to the move.
