Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said discussions with Polish President, Andrzej Duda, in a bilateral meeting in conjunction with his visit to Malaysia covered the field of green hydrogen and Poland's strength in modern technology.
He added that Malaysia and Poland also touched on the potential to expand long-term relations in the defence industry.
He believed that the potential for cooperation and growth existed to demonstrate the capabilities of Malaysia and Poland in the areas discussed such as the halal industry and modern technology.
In 2024, Poland was listed as Malaysia's eighth largest trading partner among European Union (EU) countries, with the value of bilateral trade increasing by 19.5% to RM5.7 billion, compared to RM4.77 billion in 2023.
Among Malaysia's main exports to Poland were electrical and electronic products, rubber products and machinery, while imports from Poland involved machinery, spare parts, E&E products and transport equipment.
In a recent meeting in Brussels, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk, agreed to accelerate the negotiations of the Malaysia-EU Free Trade Agreement (MEUFTA) and stressed the importance of concluding it as soon as possible.
At the same time, both sides also reiterated their commitment to deepen cooperation in security and defence, particularly in areas of mutual benefit.
