Peace or Suffering: Trump Threatens Putin with Biggest ‘Secondary Tariffs’ Ever!

President Donald Trump has given Russian President Vladimir Putin less than two weeks to either reach a peace deal with Ukraine or face massive secondary tariffs on Moscow and its trading partners. Trump had previously set a 50-day deadline that was expected to end in early September, but he said the process was too slow.

“I’m going to set a new deadline, about 10 or 12 days from now,” Trump told reporters during a visit to Scotland and a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. “There’s no reason for them to keep going. I want to be patient, but we’re not seeing any progress.”

Trump acknowledged his frustration with Putin and shortened the original deadline. He had previously threatened to impose tariffs of up to 100% on buyers of Russian exports if a ceasefire deal is not reached by September.

While Trump has previously been reluctant to criticize Putin publicly, his tone has changed in recent months as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has become increasingly aggressive. "I spoke many times with President Putin. We basically reached an agreement five times. But he still launched rockets into cities like Kyiv and many were killed, including in nursing homes," he said in a regretful tone.
