Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has allocated RM1 million to the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) to support the development of football in the capital.
Anwar stressed that the government is committed to advancing the development of football as a people's sport, with an emphasis on improving key infrastructure.
He also stressed the importance of preserving the culture of sportsmanship, especially the behavior of supporters who sometimes act beyond limits and undermine the spirit of unity.
The statement was recorded during the KLFA's 50th Golden Jubilee Celebration Ceremony last Saturday.
The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has also been instructed to monitor incidents that could affect the image of national football, in line with the role of sports as a medium of unity and a healthy lifestyle.
