US President Donald Trump faces another legal defeat when the Court of Appeal prevents the dismissal of the Federal Reserve Board (Fed) member Lisa Cook.

Earlier, Trump tried to sack Cook on his allegations that he had made a false statement on a mortgage application.

The Subordinate Court in Washington last week has temporarily stopped Trump's efforts, and the case is now likely to be brought to the Supreme Court.

In addition, Cook denied the allegations and insisted that Trump had no power to fire it.

Through his lawyer, Cook explained any mistakes only related to personal housing loans for years before his appointment.

The lower court also ruled that the president could only fire the board for legal reasons, and that the behavior before appointment could not be the basis.

The public interest in maintaining Fed's freedom also supports the appointment of Cook.

The decision was made several hours before the Fed's Two -Day Policy Meeting, where the first interest rate cuts since December 2024 will be announced with Cook is expected to attend.
