The ringgit moved weaker against the US dollar following more upbeat US economic data.
At 10.30am, the ringgit was at 4.2190, down 0.41% against the USD since it opened early Friday in the Asian session.
Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid expects the ringgit to hover in the range of RM4.21 to RM4.22 today, with the US Dollar Index maintaining its upward momentum.
He added that the final estimate of US GDP for the second quarter was revised to 3.8 per cent from the previous estimate of 3.3 per cent.
At today's opening session, the ringgit opened stronger against most major currencies.
The ringgit rose against the Japanese yen to 2.8146/8215 from 2.8283/8308 at yesterday's close. It also strengthened against the euro to 4.9197/9313 from 4.9429/9470 and was higher against the British pound at 5.6257/6390 from 5.6600/6647.
Among ASEAN regional currencies, the ringgit performed mixed.
It strengthened against the Singapore dollar to 3.2589/2669 from 3.2662/2692 and rose against the Thai baht to 13.0897/1285 from 13.0959/1133 previously.
However, the ringgit depreciated against the Philippine peso to 7.26/7.28 from 7.24/7.25 at yesterday's close, while against the Indonesian rupiah, the ringgit was little changed at 251.9/252.6 from 251.2/251.5 previously.
