The government announced that the payment of the Sumbangan Tanai Rahmah (STR) Phase 4 for the year 2025 will begin to be disbursed as early as 18 October 2025. The announcement was made by the Prime Minister when tabling the 2026 Budget in the Dewan Rakyat today, as a continuation of the government's efforts to help low-income people face the pressure of the still high cost of living.
The Prime Minister explained that the early implementation of the fourth phase of the STR is aimed at ensuring that recipients can better plan their family finances by the end of the year, especially during the school and festive seasons.
He also stressed that this cash assistance remains one of the government's main focuses under the Civil Economy framework, which emphasizes the well-being of the people and the equitable distribution of national resources.
STR is one of the largest direct assistance initiatives implemented by the government, involving millions of eligible B40 and M40 households. This initial distribution is expected to provide an immediate injection into the local economy, especially in the retail and small service sectors which are the lifeblood of the people's income.
