Macron to Name New French PM Within 48 Hours

French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to announce a new prime minister within 48 hours, after the sudden resignation of Sébastien Lecornu further stoked political uncertainty and concerns about the stability of the country's administration.

Lecornu, who was appointed less than a month ago, decided to resign with his entire cabinet just hours after announcing the new line-up.

This makes it one of the shortest administrations in modern French history.

The move adds pressure to Macron, who is currently facing a divided parliament and difficulty in forming a strong majority to pass key fiscal policies by the end of the year.

Government sources said talks were underway between the center-right and center-left political blocs to form a "stability platform" that could support the presentation of the 2026 budget.

However, the prospects for forming a new government remain uncertain as the main opposition parties, including Marine Le Pen's National Rally, have rejected any further talks with the Élysée.

Analysts expect any delay in the appointment of a new prime minister could drag France into deeper political turmoil, thus directly impacting investor confidence and the economic stability of the eurozone as a whole.
