OpenAI has officially introduced GPT-5.6, the latest artificial intelligence (AI) model that is now available to ChatGPT users, Codex and developers via API.
The new model comes with three main options: Sol, Terra and Luna. This division is made to make it easier for users to choose a model according to the level of capability, speed and cost required.
GPT-5.6 Sol is the most powerful model in this series. It is specially designed for more complex tasks such as writing code, scientific research, cybersecurity and data analysis.
Interestingly, Sol is able to review its work, use various assistance tools and improve answers before providing a response to the user.
OpenAI also introduced Ultra mode which uses four AI agents working simultaneously.
Each agent will complete a separate task before combining all the results into a more complete and accurate answer.
For software developers, GPT-5.6 also offers new features that allow models to automatically write and run simple programs to help complete tasks more efficiently.
In addition, OpenAI claims that GPT-5.6 performs better in various coding tests than its predecessor, while using fewer tokens, helping to reduce usage costs.
GPT-5.6 can also be used with various applications such as Microsoft 365, Google Drive, Slack and Notion.
This allows users to produce documents, presentations, spreadsheets and reports more easily and quickly.
In terms of security, OpenAI informed that this model has higher capabilities in the fields of cybersecurity and biology, but is still below the critical risk level because it is equipped with various security controls.
The launch of GPT-5.6 is expected to further strengthen competition in the rapidly growing AI industry.
At the same time, other companies such as Elon Musk's xAI are also expected to launch new AI models, thus showing that the competition to develop smarter, faster and more affordable AI technology is becoming increasingly fierce.
