Penang-based hotpot restaurant operator CCH Holdings Ltd (CCHH) has surprised everyone by securing a contract worth approximately RM203.9 million to provide data center maintenance and support services in Malaysia.

The Nasdaq-listed company, which is best known for its Chicken Claypot House chain, announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary has signed three-year agreements with several customers.

The identity of the customers, however, was not disclosed due to confidentiality agreements.

Under the contract, CCHH will provide data center maintenance, technical support and operations services, including provision of computing capacity, deployment coordination, technical consulting and operational advisory services.

The scope of the service also has the potential to be expanded to overseas markets in line with customer expansion plans.

According to Chief Executive Officer Goh Kok E, the contract is an important step in the company's efforts to diversify its business into the technology infrastructure and data center sectors, without affecting its existing restaurant business operations.

He said CCHH will continue to expand its franchise restaurant network while capitalizing on opportunities in the data center and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure sectors, which are currently booming in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Despite securing large-value contracts, the company's financial performance remains challenging. For the financial year ended December 31, 2025, CCHH recorded a net loss of RM2.68 million, compared to a profit of RM913,400 in the previous year.

However, the company's revenue increased 7.5% to RM9.59 million from RM8.92 million in the previous year.

The new contract is expected to be a catalyst for CCHH's transformation from a restaurant company to a player in the data center industry, opening up new sources of revenue as demand for digital and AI infrastructure continues to grow.
