US President Joe Biden warned that there was a ‘clear possibility’ Russia would invade Ukraine in February.
The statement was made while speaking in a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday, according to a White House National Security Council spokesman.
The U.S. and Western allies have flatly rejected any concessions on Moscow’s key demands on Wednesday calling for Ukraine to be barred from joining NATO.
Moreover, they also said the deployment of troops and allied military equipment in Eastern Europe was non -negotiable.
The rejection has left Russia seeing the chances of peace dwindle, saying the US reluctance has left ‘little reason for optimism’.
Meanwhile, the White House also said that during the conversation between the two leaders, Biden stressed the readiness of America and its allies to respond if Russia invades Ukraine.
Sequence from that, all focus now shifts to President Vladimir Putin who will decide how Russia will react to this situation.
