The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) announced that from October 9, Malaysians who were charged the price of RON95 without subsidy due to technical problems at petrol stations can claim a refund.
Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said that although the BUDI95 programme has been running smoothly since its launch last week, there have been some minor system glitches that have resulted in drivers being charged RM2.60 per litre, instead of the subsidised RM1.99 per litre.
Individuals and businesses can apply for a refund of RON95 without subsidy on the KPDN's MySubsidi portal starting yesterday for purchases between September 30 and October 31, by attaching a copy of the receipt as proof of purchase.
Businesses are also required to register with the Subsidised Petrol Control Scheme (SKPS) and submit proof of fleet card application before October 31 to be eligible to claim the subsidy.
Once the claim is verified and approved by the ministry, the refund is expected to be credited to bank accounts within 15 working days.
Dr Fuziah also revealed that the registration of subsidized petrol for SKPS businesses has been well received, but only around 25% of businesses have been eligible to register so far.
Companies that register late can still claim the deferred subsidy from 1 October with their petrol purchase receipt, and it is expected that more individuals will register immediately under SKPS.
BUDI95 is now open to all Malaysians with a MyKad and a valid driving licence.
Consumers can pay at the pump or counter and present their MyKad to enjoy the BUDI95 subsidized price of RM1.99 per litre.
