Fares for KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services between KL Sentral and KLIA will increase by RM10 starting 1 January 2027.
The one-way adult fare for travel between the city centre and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will rise from RM55 to RM65.
Other Routes Also Affected
According to Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL), the fare adjustment is not limited to the KL Sentral-KLIA route.
Fares for other sectors or routes within the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services will also be adjusted starting on the same date.
Rising Operating Costs
ERL stated that the increase follows a significant rise in operating and maintenance costs since the fares were last reviewed in 2016.
The adjustment is also in accordance with the provisions of the company's concession agreement with the government.
Maintaining Service Quality
ERL Chief Executive Officer Noormah Noor stated that the fare adjustment is necessary to support the company's efforts to maintain high service standards.
It also enables ERL to invest in improvements to provide a better travel experience for passengers.
Discounts of Up to 30% Offered
At the same time, commuters still have the opportunity to secure lower fares through discounts of up to 30%, which are currently being planned by ERL in collaboration with several partners.
Details of the offers will be announced once all arrangements are finalized.
ERL has been operating for 24 years, connecting the city centre with KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
